EV3 Education Platform for Classrooms will be available in the US from August 1st 2013 so teachers and educationalists can start planning for the next academic year.
Note that this is the version for schools to use. There will also be a kit that we can buy for home use but we don't have a release date for that yet. We're holding off on a purchase so we can get the next generation version which has some cool new features.
The new EV3 range has support for remote control from an iOS or Android device.
There's also new graphical software for programming your inventions.
And lots of educational content for teaching STEM subjects with the Education version.
EV3 also has a smart new red, white and black color scheme which we like a lot.
There are also 3D instructions created with an Autodesk product that allow you to navigate steps in 3D as you build a model.
LEGO® have done a great job of designing some very cool example machines to show off EV3 and get kids started. But they'll also be able to invent their own machines once they've got the hang of it.
LEGO® Mindstorms EV3 Pre-order (Ships August 1st 2013)
We're also expecting the Home Edition in second half of 2013 but I haven't seen an official release date yet. The Home Edition is it's LEGO 31313 and the suggested retail price is $349.99.
