Mabot Modular Robotics and Coding Kit

Mabot is a modular robotics kit which you can build and code using a graphical programming language in an app. Developed by Bellrobot from China, the company hopes this robotic kit will inspire children to explore robotics and programming in a playful and creative way. They have recently launched the Mabot campaign on Kickstarter and have already reached their funding goal.

Mabot is a modular system, that you plug together to create different types of robots and a number of different functions. The kit comes with a number of sensors and attachments and is compatible with LEGO.

The Mabot Go app, which is already available for iOS and Andriod devices, is specifically designed with children in mind, using a graphical programming language to code the robots. There's also a more advance Mabot IDE app to encourage developers to tinker.

The 'brains' of the robot is in the Control Ball and you use links and rods to attach other sensors, like the driver ball, colour sensor or servo ball. The robot is powered with the Battery Ball which we assume can be charged with a power adaptor.

The kit price is comparable with other robotics kits and looks like the Advanced Kit will offer a wider range of capabilities than the Starter Kit.
