VTech KidiGo Music and Video Player

VTech are bringing out a new music and video player for children. The VTech KidiGo is a multimedia player designed for kids aged 3 to 8. The device has a 4.3" color screen touch screen and physical buttons for controlling volume, navigating media and play / pause functionality.

The device is not out yet and not much information is available about the product but it has already won an award. It came took third place in the Gadget category of the 2013 Mum's Choice Awards. Note that this product has not yet been released and details may be subject to change.

The KidiGo has a kid tough case and comes in blue or pink colors. There's also a handstrap to make the player easier to hold on to. The matching headphones are included and clip on to the device when not in use.

The device has 2GB of storage and this can be extended by using a micro SD card. You can download content from the VTech Learning Lodge. It looks like this will be limited to video and music content (the Learning Lodge is also the place where you download content for the InnoTab range of tablets.)

The German Amazon listing for the device mentions that it will be possible to play 5 exciting games. The device will also be able to display photos (though not take them.)

This is an interesting move. One of the features that parents really like about the InnoTab tablets is the ability to put your own music and video content on the device, rather than being limited to content purchased from VTech. It looks like this feature will continue with the KidiGo range so you can load up an SD card with your child's favorites using MPEG-4 format for videos and MP3 for music / audio.

The KidiGo runs on 4 AA batteries or a mains adapter (not included.)

We don't have a release date but as retailers are starting to list the product we expect it to be in time for the 2013 holidays.
