Zubi Flyer - Hackable Toy
UPDATE: This project was cancelled on 23 September 2016 by the creator.
The Zubi Flyer is a hackable flying disk with lights, sound and inputs. The Zubi Flyer is currently looking for crowdfunding on Kickstarter.
Kids need to do some simple assembly to put the toy together and it comes pre-programmed with light and sound games. Kids will be able to program the Zubi Flyer to create their own games and effects.
Toys that teach kids how to make stuff with electronics really starting to appear. Hackaball and the Technology will Save Us Mover Kit also combine active play with a hackable toy. Other boards such as the Code Bug, BBC micro:bit, Adafruit Circuit Playground and Code Gamer encourage kids to hack their own toys and gadgets.
A fun feature of the Zubi Flyer is that it comes with refraction glasses to add to the light effects. It also has reed switches and a magnetic wand - a combo that we've used a lot.
