Maker Camp is run by Make Magazine and uses Google Hangouts. You need to be 13 to have an Google+ account and join hangouts so younger kids will need their parents to participate. The tutorials will also be put up on YouTube afterwards so you won't miss out if you can't join the live Hangouts.
Each week there will be daily projects that fit into a theme:
- July 8th: Motion
- July 15th: Create the Future
- July 22nd: Fun & Games
- July 29th: Art & Design
- August 5th: DIY Music
- August: 12th: Make:Believe
Parents should check out the resources provided for parents including the release form so they understand the participation terms.
Maker camp offers lots to keep maker teens and parents and kids busy over the summer. We'll be following along and doing some of the projects that appeal to my kids. The projects are already listed for the first week and I can see that the paddle boat and the rocket-propelled toy car will appeal to my kids.
